My Personal Journey Toward Healing Eczema Through Fasting and Natural Methods

My Personal Journey Toward Healing Eczema Through Fasting and Natural Methods

For many years, I suffered from severe eczema on my palms and soles. At one point, nearly 70% of my skin was damaged. My hands were cracked, painful, and embarrassing. Because of this condition, I often felt inferior and uncomfortable in front of others. Simple activities like shaking hands or showing my palms made me feel self-conscious.

Like many people facing chronic skin problems, I tried many treatments.

Struggling with Conventional Treatments

Initially, I used white petroleum jelly and coconut oil daily to protect my skin. However, these remedies did not bring significant improvement.

Later, I consulted several doctors. Most of them prescribed steroid creams and strong medications, including drugs such as . I carefully followed all their instructions for almost three months, taking medicines weekly and applying treatments exactly as prescribed.

Despite my discipline and patience, my eczema did not improve. In fact, sometimes it flared up even more, especially on my hands.

At that moment, I realized something important: my body might need a different approach.

Trusting the Body’s Natural Healing Ability

I strongly believe that the human body has an incredible self-healing ability. Every cell in our body constantly tries to repair and regenerate itself.

Through YouTube, Instagram, and health podcasts, I heard doctors and researchers talking about how the body has a natural recovery system. That idea deeply inspired me.

So I decided to take responsibility for my own healing journey.

Exploring Natural Therapies

My first step was trying homeopathy and Ayurvedic remedies.

I started taking , commonly known as Giloy in Hindi. I used the mother tincture, taking 20–25 drops in water every morning and evening.

Along with that, I also used , an Ayurvedic preparation often described as a blood purifier. I consumed two to three tablespoons twice daily, sometimes on an empty stomach and sometimes after meals.

These remedies helped a little. I noticed about 10% improvement, but my eczema was still present.

I knew I had to explore further.

Discovering Autophagy

One day, I repeatedly heard the word in health discussions online.

Curious about it, I spent almost four to five hours reading articles, watching lectures, and listening to podcasts to understand how it works.

Autophagy is a natural biological process where the body removes damaged cells and regenerates new ones, especially during fasting.

Learning about this process motivated me to take a bold step.

My First Long Fast

I decided to attempt a 72-hour fast.

During the first 24 hours, everything was stable. I did not feel much difficulty.

At around 48 hours, something interesting happened. I began to feel very light and mentally calm. My mind felt focused, almost like I was in a meditative state.

Throughout the fast, I stayed hydrated by drinking water and light lemon water with a small pinch of salt every four hours.

The Turning Point at 60 Hours

As the fasting period approached 60 hours, I experienced two episodes of loose motion. At that moment, I decided to listen to my body rather than force the full 72 hours.

So I stopped the fast at 62 hours.

Even though I didn’t complete the planned 72 hours, I felt proud. It was the longest fast I had ever done in my life.

Breaking the Fast

I broke my fast gently with plain idli and simple chutney. Over the next two to three days, I continued eating very light and simple foods, avoiding strong spices.

The Unexpected Improvement

Something remarkable happened after this fasting experience.

Within two to three days, I noticed that about 50% of my eczema symptoms had reduced.

After seven days, the improvement was even more dramatic — nearly 80% of my eczema had cleared.

My skin looked healthier, and the painful cracks were significantly reduced.

Continuing My Fasting Practice

Encouraged by these results, I decided to adopt a regular fasting routine.

Now, every Monday, I practice a 24-hour fast, where I eat only one meal during that day.

During longer fasting periods, I noticed several interesting effects:

  • After 48 hours, my mind enters a deep focus mode, similar to meditation.
  • My body feels lighter and calmer.
  • A white coating appears on my tongue, which I believe is related to ketosis, when the body starts burning fat for energy.

These experiences made me feel that my body was actively repairing and resetting itself.

Gratitude and Reflection

This journey taught me that sometimes healing requires patience, self-awareness, and courage to explore new approaches.

Throughout this process, I also shared my experiences and questions with ChatGPT, which provided helpful suggestions and guidance along the way.

Today, my eczema is about 70–80% improved, and I continue working toward complete healing through disciplined lifestyle practices.

This is my personal journey and experience, and I hope it inspires others to believe in the body’s natural healing power.
